Older/wiser

Today is Mr TNMA's birthday. And I sent him two cards. One from the real me and one from That's Not My Age - sometimes I wonder about this blogging malarkey, first a wrist injury, then the next thing you know I'm borderline schizophrenic. Anyhow. This is one of the well-chosen cards from Hello Lucky, check out the website for a fine selection of gifts and stationery.

Talking of lovely printed things, I've had my eye on this Ros Shiers' illustration for a while. That's not his birthday present though.

And neither is this:

No. Mr That's Not My Age is now the proud owner of the latest Yotam Ottolenghi cookbook, Plenty, and a pestle and mortar. My friend says this is pure self-interest. It's a vegetarian cookbook, I'm a vegetarian. It's a cookbook, Mr TNMA does all the cooking. But I disagree. There are loads of recipes with tomatoes, and I hate tomatoes.

Guardian columnist and café owner, Ottolenghi is a genius by the way. Mr TNMA highly recommends his recipe books. For my birthday, I think the Blog Widower might buy me this fabulous print from self-proclaimed, illustration wizard Mr Bingo:

Got to go, my dinner's on the table!

The bigger, the better

hey,

I know it has been a long time, to long. But it has been a very busy week at school. All our tasks had to be finished.
So I didn't had any time to post some pictures. But this weekend I had a bit of time, so I did some shopping. I bought a short, it's a very loose one. It's so comfortable and cute. The skirt is very simple but I like it. The earrings are very big, but thats the way I like them. I bought everyting at H&M. After shopping I went to Sex and the city 2 with my friends. I loved the movie!! It's absolutely fantastic and fashionable!!!!! It cerently is a must-see!!!
I noticed I've already got so more followers, so I'm really happy!

Here's a funny story: My mum just told me she bought a new pro-age soap. She said she never felt softer. So i felt and she was rigth. Then she showed me the bottle. I carefully read everything and then I saw this: Beauty body lotion!! It wasn't soap!! :p
She was washing herself for over two weeks with body lotion :p Th next five minutes she couldn-'t stop laughing, she blames it on her age.

I'll write again soon!

Greetz, X.

What is your top style tip Politcal Style?

This week I asked Laura of Politcal Style for her top style tip:

"I always make sure I wear some sort of jewellery - whether it is a nice pair of earrings, my signet ring or a funky necklace. Jewellery is highly personal, and can brighten even the dullest of days!

Invest in fabulous shoes- flats, wedges, or stilettos and make sure you take care of them, by stuffing them with tissue paper or shoe trees to maintain their shape. Create a capsule wardrobe, filled with tailored trousers, chic skirts and crisp white shirts. These are the base for a simple yet amazing outfit, which can be made into its own by accessories of your choice.

And finally, an age old tip! Take your make-up off every night and make sure you cleanse tone and moisturise! Your skin will thank you for it!"

TV dinner gone posh!

Stuffed peppers and Philadelphia salmon

This is a just little something I rustled together tonight for my mum and me that I thought you might like to partake in!

1. Lightly oil a baking tray. Cut the tops off the peppers and rub a little oil into the skins. Place  the salmon fillets and peppers on the tray. Spread a layer of Philadelphia over the fillets.

2. Melt some butter in a pan.

3. Halve or quarter a handful of tomatoes and finely chop a clove of garlic. Add to a bowl.

4. Add finely chopped spring onions to the melted butter.

5. Crumble feta cheese into the bowl of tomatoes and garlic.

6. Add bread crumbs to the butter and spring onions and stir so that they are all coated.

7. Add a splash of balsamic vinegar and olive oil to the tomatoes, garlic and feta cheese and stir.

8. Stuff the tomato-garlic-feta-balsamic-vinegar-olive-oil mixture into the peppers.

10. Top the salmon fillets and stuffed peppers with the bread crumb mixture. And place in the oven.

11. For 25 minutes.

12. At 190C.

13. Serve with steamed new potatoes. And enjoy!!

I realise that this recipe is a little haphazard but this is how I tend to cook: a little all over the place!!

Why the long skirt?

Now that the legs have gone all gorgonzola on me, I spend summer looking for ways to cover up and stay cool. Like camping and watching Wimbledon, hiding the varicose veins has become an annoying seasonal hobby. It's easy enough to ignore the not-so-thin blue lines if, like That's Not My Age, you live in jeans, trousers and black opaques for 90 per cent of the year but as soon as the sun shines I start to think how much simpler life would be if I could get my legs out. Every year I vow to get the ugly veins removed but that means paying to go private - and frankly I'd rather spend the money on something useful, like a holiday. Preferably to a Muslim country where I can keep myself covered up.

So, what to wear when your legs are passed their sell-by-date? The Capri pant and shirt combo looks chic but can be a little bit too snug when the temperature soars. And I quite like the idea of crumpled linen trousers, but who wants to look like they're wearing dirty laundry? So, a maxi is the perfect option. And like volcanic ash, the floor-skimming skirt is making an unexpected appearance on the radar this summer. Empty airports and waist to ankle coverage, now you're talking. The good thing about the maxi is it looks best with flat shoes. Team a full length skirt with heels, add a staircase and you're looking for trouble.

And long skirts definitely have that Martini factor. Wear with a slouchy grey marl t-shirt for pure casual glamour. I could wear the outfit (above) by L'Agence from Net-a-Porter all summer long. The photos of the lovely grey-haired lady are from The Times. Check out the 7 ways to wear a maxi skirt feature soon (there's also a video on the new website) because Rupert Murdoch's paywall is up and ready for action. You have been warned - he wants your money!

Now, just don't get me started on age spots.

PS What do you think about paying for online news?

Chelsea Girl

My mother is a terrible influence. I spent the afternoon shopping with her and boy, did we shop!

Went to the River Island event. Not much really to report. Took a few photos until I was told to stop by the sales assistant!! We didn't get there till pretty late and they were packing away the make-over part but a few people were having their nails done:

I tried on these beautiful sandals but they were a little pricey and I was a little worried that they might lose a feather or two over time and I get funny about things like that!!

I did buy a different pair of sandals instead and a dress! But you will have to wait to see them. In the meantime, here are a couple of photos I managed to take of some rather pretty things they have in River Island at the moment:

Hope you all have a lovely Friday night and bank holiday weekend.

Sex and the City 2

The amount of hype and hysteria surrounding the Sex and the City 2 film, which was released yesterday, is overwhelming. Not only is everyone organising girlie dates to watch the film with cocktails in hand whilst being pedicured, manicured and exfoliated at the same time (slight exaggeration), but the advertising has gone mad too; every billboard, magazine, newspaper and website I come across seems to feature the New York quartet.

Now, perhaps this is a contentious issue and I will receive hate mail for months to come but...am I the only woman not to be excited in the slightest about Sex and the City 2? Now, don’t assume that I have a huge dislike of Sex and the City and everything it stands for, I don’t, it’s just that I’m not that interested in the ongoing saga of the will-they, won’t-they, love affairs of Carrie Bradshaw and the neurotic tendencies and shrill tones of Miranda. I also think that the Sex and the City content has been done to death and stringing it out to a second film is too much. However saying that, count me in on the pre-film cocktails, I’ll just slide away before the curtains open.

Who is your style icon Leia of HiFashion?

This week I asked Leia of HiFashion, who is your favourite style icon and why? (You might remember that her blogger-in-crime, Sherin, shared her style icon with us here.)

"Is it alright for me to say I have two style icons? My first would be Queen Rania of Jordan. I think she is always so elegant, conservative but not frumpy, and so beautiful. Also, I know she's a fictional character, but I do love Blair Waldorf's style. It's the perfect mix of preppy and pretty - I wish I could have access to her entire wardrobe!"

This post is a part of a series of posts in which I have asked some of my favourite fashion bloggers who their style icon or icons are. If you've missed the other posts in this series, you can find them here.

J'adore!

Had some fun in front of the camera while the boyf was behind it this evening. Do you like the silly photos? I think I do!

I am wearing: Dorothy Perkins tee, M&S thrifted blazer, M&S sunglasses, DP pearls, H&M ring, Topshop jeans and DIY necklace (remember this?).

Have a nice evening.

More soon. Love, SG

EVENT ALERT!!!

Well ladies and gents, thought this sounded too good not to share with you! If you go, let me know how you get on! I might pop along to the Cardiff event tomorrow at 4, if you see me there, say hi!

Style Icon: Agyness Deyn

At just 16, Agyness Deyn was named the Rossendale Free Press "Face of '99".

She found fame modelling in 2007 when she appeared on the cover of American Vogue magazine alongside other models, including Lily Donaldson, described as the new crop of supermodels.

Aggy - as she is known to friends - has an eclectic style. Her off duty wear tends to be rocky with a British edge.

If you have missed the previous style icons featured on the blog, check them out here.

Tell me, who is your style icon?

J'adore Juliette Binoche

Today, That's Not My Age is feeling a special love for the fabulous Juliette Binoche. At Cannes, the 46 year-old looked pretty damn hot in a monochrome Givency jumpsuit, picked up the Best Actress award (for her role in Copie Conforme ) wearing a stunning Céline floor-length gown and gave a whole new meaning to the term statement necklace:

Proving that she can work her magic off-screen too, Binoche's elegant protest led to the release of Jafar Panahi, the imprisoned Iranian film director. Hoorah!

Hold onto your hats readers, because now things get really exciting. In today's Telegraph, the Parisienne beauty eschews Botox and reveals one of her best-kept beauty secrets: facialist, Su-Man Hsu, 'She does these facials that keep your face alive, so that it doesn't fall down dead, you know?' My face may not be dead yet but it's terminally ill. So, That's Not My Age was straight on the phone to the lovely Su-Man Hsu to book myself in for a session! S-MH doesn't have a salon or a website, all her clients are word-of-mouth, so I told her Juliette had sent me. Tune in next week to find out whether a Facial Booster Massage can breathe life into my sagging jowls.

A 90-minute facial massage with Su-Man Hsu costs £100 (07779 151 346)
