Wardrobe essentials, according to Shopgirl

When catching up on my morning reads today - over coffee, in bed, as one does (!) - I came across this post by Forty Not Out which delves into the capsule wardrobe of one very Yummy Mummy. I may not be a Yummy Mummy but I thought that I might have a look back at all of the outfit posts I have done over the last 12 months and pick out my wardrobe "essentials", of sorts! It was an interesting exercise as I realise that you have seen only a very very small part of my wardrobe!

I have also recently discovered picnik.com (I am still to discover the joys of Photoshop!), so I thought I would create some pretty collages for you:

First of all, dresses for all occasions:

I am a self-confessed dress addict and this is just four of my many many dresses. To be fair, you have seen a few more than this on here but I chose four of my favourites. From left to right, these are from: H&M, Dorothy Perkins, H&M and Zara.

The boyfriend blazer is a favourite of mine. This one is the one that my mum found in her local Oxfam shop for about £3! It is originally an M&S one. I dress it up and down all of the time:

This summer seems to be all about shorts for me. I am living in my boyfriend denim pair from H&M, as well as my H! by Henry Holland for Debenhams culottes:

As the middle photograph shows, shorts aren't seasonal and can be teamed with tights for the cooler weather in spring and autumn too.

Whatever the time of year I usually have at least one cocktail ring on. Here is a little selection of the ones I have worn in the past year:

Clockwise from top left, these are from: Dorothy Perkins, H&M, Asos and Dorothy Perkins.

And finally, shoes:

Top row, from left to right: New Look, Dorothy Perkins, thrifted from Mary's Living and Giving Shop (originally, Office) and New Look. Bottom row, from left to right: Office, New Look, Kurt Gieger and River Island.

What's in your wardrobe?
