I'm back!

Hi,

I'm back in blogland and I'm planning to stay this time.
I had very busy weeks with a childrens daycamp. I had lots of fun.
This outfit is a favourite I love the pants and the jacket. I bought them both during sales.
I'm planning a trip to Milan next week, I hope we're gonna go!

The shoot for Flair was so much fun! I got to wear to beautifull outfits! But I have to wait till october to show you the pictures,
then it will appear in the magazine.

This photo was taken last Friday in Alghero. I only just had time to crop it properly.

I am wearing: a Marks and Spencer dress and Primark sandals.

We're off to Cagliari tomorrow, anyone been? Know anywhere good to eat? I need to go pack again now.

Mood Board: CAMEL

Camel was all over the catwalks for Autumn/Winter 2010 and now it has transcended to the high street too. Some have declared it boring and bland.

Day trips and fine knits

Minimalism is back, a fine knit jumper is one of autumn's hot buys and That's Not My Age couldn't be happier. A recent trip up to Derbyshire to visit the fabulous John Smedley factory, followed by a quick whizz round the factory shop - a sort of posh Supermarket Sweep without the trolleys - has added a handful of simple, stylish sweaters to my winter wardrobe.

The factory was built in 1784 and is so old it has ancient monument status. Smedley have been producing quality knitwear for over 200 years and dedicated followers include Joanna Lumley, Paul Weller and HRH the Queen (Her Majesty wears the vests). The company also produce knitwear for Paul Smith and Margaret Howell. People, we are talking classic, refined, timeless.

The business has a friendly, family-owned feel - bosses agonize over what to do with a 30-year-old machine that's not being used anymore, workers are genuinely upset when something goes wrong. I'm tempted to ask for a job.

Creative director, Dawne Stubbs likes a good v-neck. Dawne owns around 40 John Smedley garments. Her oldest knit is almost 20-years-old and she still wears it on a regular basis. Now, if that's not an investment buy, I don't know what is. That's Not My Age has an extra long body so I put in a special request for longer-length jumpers and the good news is that John Smedley are 'addressing the issue of length.' Hoorah.

On the trip around the factory we came across:

No, not the place where workers have a good old knee's up on a Friday afternoon, this is where two yarns - top quality Sea Island Cotton or extra fine Merino wool - are twisted together. .

And now for the factory shop booty - which looks like a lot but I spent £130 or the equivalent of one full price sweater. Not bad eh?

Three lovely knits and two pairs of argyle socks for me and a classic three-buttoned Merino polo shirt and three pairs of socks for Mr That's Not My Age.

LUST vs BARGAIN: back to school stationery

As children, teenagers and students prepare for the new academic year, I thought it was the perfect time to indulge in a little fantasy "back to school" shopping. Looking at both ends of the financial spectrum, I splurged a little at Smythson and was frugal at Paperchase:

The Best of Reading Festival 2010

I've just come back from Reading Festival and although exhausted, hungover and in need of proper food (i.e. fruit and vegetables) but I had a great time!

Here is the lowdown of my weekend:

Top three acts:

Kele - Frontman of my favourite live band, Bloc Party, Kele has such a great stage presence and charisma, he was my favourite performer of the weekend. The remixed Bloc Party songs interspersed with his solo work went down a storm with the crowd! Listen to Bloc Party's 'Flux' below.
The Libertines - Great to see Pete Doherty and Carl Barat reunited and playing all their classics. The atmosphere in the crowd was electric during their big numbers.
Dizzee Rascal - Such an energetic performer, really gets the crowd going. Only downside was that I missed the first half of the set :(

Other highlights included Foals (loved the crowd surfing, scaling of speakers and climbing of tent supports), Los Campesinos! and The Drums.

Top three style:

Pete Doherty - You either love him or hate him and I'm definitely of the former when it comes to the music. He was working the indie staples of black skinnies, fine knit jumper and black fedora. Obviously Pete Doherty was bang on trend with the minimalist look. Next gig, the aviator trend...
Jonathan Pierce, lead singer of The Drums - Looking good in the perfect shade this autumn - mustard.
Kele - sporting a chef's outfit but still managed to work the look with confidence.

Top three festival accessories:

Floral headbands - These were everywhere this weekend on adolescent girls and boys alike who were channeling the Peaches Geldof festival look. I'll reserve judgement...
Slogan t-shirts - These t-shirts were seen everywhere from the direct, 'Your tent or mine', to the charming, 'No way, you're a minger!'
Morphsuit - The all-in-one suit as seen on our favourite 'Hartbeat' star Morph.

After dinner at the local pizzeria last night, the boyf took this photo of me on the terrace right outside our room.

I am wearing: a Primark dress, Next bangle and Spartoo sandals (just visible).

It is too hot to even consider straightening my hair at the moment so I am leaving it to its natural unruly curly mess!
