I was mesmerised by Tautou's kooky dreamer in Amélie and enthralled by her performance in Priceless and enchanted by her portrayal of the French designer in Coco Avant Chanel.

Audrey Tautou is a particularly private actress and this is probably the reason behind her declaration that she would not move to the US and will continue a predominantly French film career.

Audrey Tautou's starring role in Coco Avant Chanel, cemented her as a fashion icon when she was named as Nicole Kidman's successor as spokeswoman for Chanel No 5. The resulting television commercial is one of my favourites:
