How to party like Ray Winstone

That's Not My Age is hungover. A trip to Brighton yesterday for late lunch with a friend turned into a pub crawl across town and a white wine frenzy. It was a sunny day at the seaside and the laid-back vibe got the better of us. Though I was still relatively sober when a dog went by on a skateboard. Ah, that's Brighton for you. Even the ginormous bottle of fancy French lemonade I bought as a gift for the Blog Widower and subsequently drank al fresco, outside another bar, didn't help. Don't worry, the bottle remained inside its brown paper bag, I'm a secret lemonade drinker and the crazy down-and-out-tee-totaller-look is all the rage in East Sussex.

So why the photo of Ray Winstone? Because he's a top actor and a decent bloke. Winstone, 54, says he prefers, ' A family night in nowadays. I do like a night out with the geezers but it kills me for about four days afterwards.'

He's not wrong. Beyond a certain age it's still possible to party like an ageing rock star but the recovery time is much longer - which is why staying in with the latest box-set is far more appealing. We're off to a friend's birthday party tonight and I'm wishing I could stay in and watch The Killing. Oh and Ray Winstone is from Plaistow in the East End of London just like Mrs TNMA Senior. My mum and her family were evacuated from London to Blackpool during the Second World War, but that's another story...

What are you doing this weekend?
