Apparently there is a new beauty trend emerging - and one that, for once, I do not feel compelled to try out. The trend, you ask? Well, according to an article in The New York Times last week, there is a growing trend of going "all natural" by eliminating shampoos, soaps, deodorant, etc. When I first heard about this, I assumed it was hippie "green" types but no, it seems that many of those cited in the NYT article are in fact professionals with high powered jobs. This is a trend that hasn't gone unnoticed, indeed, Katy - of Modly Chic - wrote a short post on this, earlier this week, for another blog, which has led to this week's topic:
1. The move to do away with soap, shampoo and deodorant has been growing in popularity in the last year. What are your thoughts on this trend?
I personally, could never go without my cleaning products. Maybe - as Katy says in her post - it is an addiction but it is not one from which I will be going cold turkey. I admire those who are able to go "all natural" but it is not for me.

2. Be honest how often do you wash your own hair?
At least every other day but often every day. My hair is naturally wavy and as a result tends to be quite greasy and this shows up all the more when I straighten my hair. I love my newly washed hair - I love the smell of it and I love the light feeling of it and I love the glossy shine it has.
3. Have you tried to go the more natural route by forgoing shampoo? What happened? Or would you be tempted to try it?
I think the longest I have ever been without washing my hair is three days and that has only been with the help of my trusty dry shampoo. And I hated it. Seriously, it starts to get me down when my hair is unwashed for too long. I've had long hair and then really short hair and then long hair and then short hair again and I have only in the last year and a half grown my hair again and I love it and I love it particularly when it's loose, unwashed, I can't wear it loose.

4. What products do you use and have you ever gone with more organic alternatives?
I colour my hair and therefore use shampoo and conditioner specially for coloured hair in an attempt to make it last longer. I tend to use soap and body wash in the shower. I would certainly be interested in trying organic alternatives as I have switched to more organic and environmentally friendly products for cleaning around the house. I think that this is the only way in which I would go "natural" rather than foregoing cleaning products altogether.
5. What about that daily shower? Would you forgo that opting to shower three times a week instead?
If I'm honest, those days I don't wash my hair (every other day or so) I don't technically shower fully, I jump in the shower and in an attempt not to get my hair wet and to save time, I wash the "vital" areas and am done. But I couldn't see myself foregoing my daily shower completely.
I'm interested, what are your thoughts? Will you be going "all natural"? Do you already?
