London Underground

So, I just received an email from a colleague recommending this blog People I See on the Tube, and it is quite literally the funniest blog I have ever read! High accolade I know but it's undoubtedly true. This blogger was inspired by all the weird and wonderful passengers of the London Underground and so decided to make them a subject of a blog. One of my favourites is this lovely lady below who has a striking resemblance to Miss Piggy, don't you think!? Anyway, check it out it is incredible and breathe a sigh of relief that you haven't been featured.

Who is your style icon Harriet?

Today I asked Harriet of where is Harriet? who is your style icon and why?

"My style icon might be a bit predictable but I can't help it - I just love Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl! She always looks polished and styled to perfection, I love her taste in clothes and how she knows exactly what suits her (or the costume designers do at least!)"

Totally Temperley

Alice Temperley has come back stronger than ever this spring/summer campaign. Her designs are not only easy-to-wear but fun and tres chic!

Equestrian is back with a bang! This would look great belting in bohemian dresses. Try wearing to the three-day eventing this summer...or on the other hand perhaps not.
A lovely chiffon dress with a beautiful decorative neckline. Note to self, must acquire a glowing golden tan first before trying this...

I love this body-con dress and the studded detail. The epitome of understated cool.

I love this clutch bag, not only for it's stand-out tribal design but also for its beautiful coral colour. A real summer shade.
This playsuit is fun and pretty and has festival written all over it. Just picture with over-sized sunglasses, sandals, heaps on bangles and a cider in hand.

This pyramid necklace is stunning, the perfect accessory to be work with a strapless dress on a long summers day.

Cute Korea Girl Choi Ji Woo

Choi Ji Woo graduated from Pusan Sooyoung Elementary, Sooyoung Girl's Jr. High, and Dukmoon Girl's High School, and majored in aerobics at Pusan Woman's Professional College's Dance Department. She was first discovered when she won a talent audition organized by MBC in 1994, and made her debut in the 1995 drama series War and Love, after which she adopted the stage name Choi Ji Woo. She also appeared in the popular drama First Love, where she was the first paired with actor Bae Yong Joon. In 2001, Choi gained popularity with her role as an orphaned girl suffering from leukemia in the series Beautiful Days, in which she starred alongside Lee Byung-Hun. That same year, she enrolled in Hanyang University's Department of Theater/Film Studies. Although Choi completed her first year, she had to withdraw from college studies due to her hectic work schedule. Choi's most recent work is the MBC weekend drama "Air City", her first series in three years. In the series, she plays Han Do-Kyung, Chief Operating Officer of Incheon Airport, a role that requires her to be multi-lingual. Her co-stars include Lee Jung-jae and Lee Jin-wook, and the trio completed their photo shoot for the series poster in February 2007. The 20-episode drama made its debut on MBC on May 12 and will conclude on July 15.

The royal wedding

Forget Prince William and Kate Middleton, readers and fellow members of The Mary Portas Appreciation Society, the royal wedding I'm talking about is between our very own Queen of Shops and her partner, the fabulous fashion journalist, Melanie Rickey. Otherwise known as my New Best Girlfriends (NBGs).

There's been media speculation for some time now about the impending civil partnership, but Rickey confirmed on her blog this week that the happy couple have been shopping for wedding dresses. Posting a wonderful photograph entitled 'What we are not wearing on our wedding day' of my NBGs trying on floor length traditional gowns at Browns Bride. Sadly, the photograph has since been removed due to copyright infringement - and when I bumped into The Fashion Editor at Large yesterday (I am not making this up, honest!) she told me that the story and the photo had been nabbed by a gossip columnist for one of the country's largest selling newspapers - I'm not saying which because I can't find the story, don't want to get done for libel and they are my New Best Girlfriends, after all.

Anyway, That's Not My Age got to thinking (some may say obsessing) about what M & M should wear for the big day. Rickey says the outfits need to be totally fab and complement each other, so here are my suggestions:

NBG/MP rocking this Burberry Prorsum silver metallic coat dress and NBG/MR in a beautiful emerald green YSL number.

The Queen of Shops could wear this gorgeous asymmetric Vionnet dress and the Fashion Editor at Large a complementary silk jumpsuit by Lanvin.

Midnight blue cocktail dresses would look super-chic. Melanie Rickey in a Celine shift-with-a-twist and Mary Portas in this tasseled Jil Sander number.

Or for full-on, jaw-dropping glamour my NBGs could opt for Alexander McQueen.

What do you think Mary Portas and Melanie Rickey should wear?

Next week: how to be the best-dressed wedding guest (can't wait for my invite to arrive!)

Lauren Conrad Medium Hair 2010

Lauren Conrad’s rise to fame on MTV’s The Hills has made her a style icon. As the popular trendy woman every girl aspires to be, LC now boasts a wide range of fans imitate her fashion sense and gorgeous hair. In fact, her sexy blonde locks are quite deserving of some extra attention.

Lauren Conrad's long Hairstyles with bangs

Although her hair is naturally wavy or curly in texture, the star often uses a flat iron to create chic, straight styles. Either way, she still looks stunning. Most recently, Conrad decided to make an important hair change. She cut off several inches of her long locks and opted for a cut that fell just below her shoulders. In a way, the star used this cut to make an important statement.

Moore has a very noticeable roundness to her face, and the right cut makes all the difference in keeping her beauty shining through. She has worn her locks both long and short, showing the innate versatility of her style. As for her hair’s texture, Moore’s ‘do is naturally thin and straight. However, this has not stopped her from adding volume and texture in her styles. Moore has been seen wearing glamorous waves and curls for soft, formal looks.

Style Icon: Livia Firth

Livia Firth is my new style crush! It is no secret that I have been in love with her husband for the last 15 years...!! Like hundreds of women (my grandma included!), ever since I saw Colin Firth emerge from the lake in the BBC's 1995 production of Pride and Prejudice I have been in love! And now Livia joins her husband in my affection.

Over the recent red carpet season, Livia Firth has been completing her very own "green carpet challenge" which she has been documenting in a blog for Vogue, right here.

Below you can see some of the photos from the challenge. I think she looks just as chic and stylish in her "dressed down" moments as she does on the red carpet.

Tell me, who is your style icon?

How to… get ready in half an hour

Source: Flickr

Do you ever wake up when your alarm goes off, hit the snooze button, or rather what you think is the snooze button and wake up much later with just half an hour to get out of the door to work, having actually turned the alarm off? This happens to me far more regularly than it really should. So I feel I am a sort of expert at it!
Here are my eleven simple steps to making it out of the door, looking presentable and on time!

1. Forget washing your hair, you don’t have time. Instead keep some James Brown London Scandalous Fabulously Flirty Dry Shampoo on your dressing table for the occasions. Spritz all over your hair and leave while you jump into the shower… You should only have used about two minutes for this.

2. Quickly wash in the shower. This should take no more than five minutes.

3. Brush out the dry shampoo. This is important; otherwise you may look like you are greying! Another two minutes.

4. Pin your hair up. A simple ponytail is probably most sensible as it will take the least amount of time and will look smart. However if you are feeling adventurous and not short of time, a bun will also work. This will take between two to five minutes depending on the style you decide on.

5. Brush your teeth. Very important but also very easy to forget when in a hurry. Spend two minutes on this!

6. Underwear. Make sure it’s the nicest underwear you have. It’ll instantly make you feel better. This shouldn’t take you longer than a couple of minutes.

7. Know your standby outfit. Think about it. You must have a go-to outfit for all of those times when everything else doesn’t look right. Whether it’s a little black dress (in my case) or a simple trouser and shirt combo, today is the day to fall back on this. If you don’t know what yours is, think about it now. You don’t have time to think about it the morning you over sleep! And if you do know exactly which outfit I mean, it shouldn’t take you five minutes to grab it and chuck it on.

8. Make up. You probably don’t have time for a full face. So combine tasks. Keep a tinted moisturiser to hand for mornings such as these, that way you’re killing two birds with one stone. Laura Mercier's Illuminating Tinted Moistuiser is just the thing. I’ll give you three minutes for this.

9. Curl baby, curl. Curl your eyelashes. With no time for both eye shadow and mascara, I always go for lashings of dark mascara. I think it makes me look so much more awake. V important on mornings where I have overslept! This will take another three minutes.

10. Blusher. Make sure you put some blusher on, you don’t want to look washed out this morning. Two minutes and you’re nearly there!

11. Lippy. A little colour will make your look pop! Why not try Nars Jungle Red Lipstick? It’ll only take you two minutes and then you’re good to go – in exactly 30 minutes!
