30 for 30: Day 18

Today's outfit is quite subdued and includes a new item for the 30 for 30 challenge that hasn't featured just yet: the Pearl Lowe for Peacocks cardigan. The cardigan was an absolute bargain - down to 35 in their sale!

I am wearing:
Topshop jeans, Pearl Lowe @ Peacocks cardigan, Gap tee, Topshop pumps and Dorothy Perkins cocktail ring.

30 for 30: Day 17

This is yesterday's outfit. The sun actually came out for a little bit so I decided to brave the American Apparel skirt with bare legs again. I am loving this nautical tee at the moment.

What do you think of this outfit?

I am wearing: Gap tee, Topshop clocket, Topshop pumps and American Apparel skirt.

30 for 30: Day 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16

I've been way too lax about getting these photos up. Sorry about that.

Here are the last five days:

Day 12: On Thursday, it was dinner with the girls, so I rocked out my midi dress.

I am wearing: H&M midi dress, Spartoo sandals, Next necklace and Dorothy Perkins cuff.

Day 13: Another day in the office and I put together a semi-casual look. I thought I'd try turning a scarf into a tie. What do you think? I like it. If I do say so myself!

I am wearing: Topshop jeans, Gap tee, New Look heels, M&S thrifted blazer and H&M scarf.

Day 14: On Saturday I had my mum visiting and we spent the afternoon at Barry Island, eating chips out of a cone and walking along the sand. This was my beach look. And then the rain came.

I am wearing: Topshop jeans, Primark wedges, Gap tee, Accessorize pendant, River Island sunglasses and M&S umbrella.

Day 15: Yesterday the boyf and I had a very lazy day in, watching Big Brother and Blood Diamond. In the evening we ventured out for a quick bite to eat. I didn't bother to get out of my slouchy outfit. Very yummy pizzas. Highly recommend Bar Cwtch in Cardiff Bay.

I am wearing: Topshop tee, Topshop leggings, Topshop pumps, assorted bangles and Asos pendant.

Day 16: Today's outfit is simple.

I am wearing: H&M midi dress and Primark wedges.

What do you think of my outfits for the last five days?

30 for 30: Day 11

When the Independent Fashion Bloggers asked on twitter What are your blogging goals this week? I declared: From tomorrow I'm gonna try to take better outfit shots for the rest of the month - focusing on more imaginative locations. This is the first of the new locations that I have scouted out. The hallway in my apartment block. I like the light. Do you?

This dress is a little too low cut for work, so I made it a little more respectable by adding the tee underneath it. I like the sleeves and the waterfall effect they create.

Even though the whole outfit is black, I like the simplicity of it and yet think it still has depth and interest.

What do you think of my sombre outfit for day 11?

I am wearing: A Topshop dress, a Paul & Joe tee, a Topshop necklace and Topshop pumps.

30 for 30: day 10

I decided to try the American Apparel skirt again. After last week's fail. This time without leggings. What do you think? Does it work better with bare legs do you think?

I am wearing: American Apparel skirt, Gap tee and Topshop pumps.

30 for 30: Day 9

This was what I was wearing before I walked home and got rained on at lunchtime. Now I'm in my Topshop jeans and Primark trainers.

In the photos, I'm wearing: H&M skirt, Gap tee, Primark ring and River Island sandals.

30 for 30: Day 8

Boozy lunch with an old friend. Is there any other kind?

I'm wearing: an M&S beach dress, belt from a stall in Barcelona, Spartoo sandals and River Island sunglasses.

These sunglasses are making me want to paint my nails red:

What do you think of today's look?

30 for 30: Day 7

I've been feeling a little under the weather today and didn't really get dressed till this evening. I lay on the sofa, watching Midsomer Murders most of the afternoon, wrapped in the duvet.

But come dinner time - when the boyf made a delicious beef steak salad (no photo, I'm afraid, it didn't last long enough!) - I decided I needed to make a bit of an effort.

I haven't really made much of an effort with my hair - I just let it dry naturally which is never a good thing.

Not really sure why I chose the maxi dress. I love it but I'm not sure it'll be that easy to re-mix. So this might be it's only outing this month. Or if it does make another appearance, it might look just the same:

I am wearing: H&M maxi dress, Dorothy Perkins belt, Dorothy Perkins cuff, Dorothy Perkins hairband and Spartoo sandals.

I look a little pale in the photo above, so here is a slightly better photo:

I decided that the light from the setting sun outside was too good to miss, so I ventured outside with my remote. It was a little embarrassing taking photos of myself when there were people around so I tried to be quick. What do you think of my outside adverture?

I also took some photos of the light on the trees and the clouds and the side of my building as I walked to my "photography spot":

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend.

30 for 30: Day 6

Another outfit that I like. Have had to change the shoes to my Primark pumps though as it decided to start pouring just before I left the house to walk to work. Most upsetting.

I am wearing: Gap tee, H&M scarf, Topshop jeans, New Look heels and a Next bangle.

Nearly a whole week in, what do you think of my outfits and choices?

30 for 30: Day 5

I quite like this outfit, it's nice and comfortable and - in my humble opinion and not wanting to blow my own trumpet - it looks all right too.

I am wearing: Gap tee, H&M skirt, Topshop pumps and a Next bag.

What do you think of my fifth outfit? And of my clothing choices for this challenge, now that you've seen nearly half of the selection?

30 for 30: Day 4

I'm not so sure about today's outfit. I chose the American Apparel skirt because I thought it would be versatile but now I don't know. It might be the jacket that makes it look off or the leggings - I can't decide. What do you think?

I had to wear the pumps again as the weather really didn't seem to know what it was doing when I left home this morning - one minute it was pouring and the next the sun was trying to make an appearance.

Today I'm wearing: Topshop vest, thrifted M&S blazer, American Apparel skirt, Topshop leggings and Primark pumps.

Another question: does my blazer count as one of my 30 items, do you think? Or is it outerwear and therefore doesn't count?

30 for 30: Day 3

Day 3 and I thought I'd break out an old vintage scarf that I never seem to wear. What do you think?

I am wearing: Topshop jeans, Primark pumps, Gap tee, a thrifted Marks and Spencer blazer and an Accessorize necklace.

30 for 30: Day 1 & 2

I did really start the challenge yesterday, I just didn't get home till late so didn't have time to post the photograph. Here are both yesterday and today's photos:

This was a fun photo to start the challenge. I spent yesterday with friends in Bicester: we (window) shopped at the Bicester Village and then had lunch before a rather long train ride home. The outfit was fit for (window) shopping - comfortable - and just right for the warm weather. The shorts have been a constant in my wardrobe all summer, so they had to be included in the challenge. I was wearing: a Gap tee, H&M shorts, H&M belt and Primark pumps.

Today was another day at work. This is my "fall back" outfit - not great that I've "fallen back" on my second day but sometimes needs must. I've only ever really worn this t-shirt like this, so I am hoping that by including it in this challenge I will find new ways to style it. I'm wearing: a thrifted scarf, a Topshop tee, Topshop leggings and Spartoo sandals.

What do you think of my first two outfits?

30 for 30 Challenge: The Remixers

Last summer I embarked on a six month shopping ban and whilst it was great for my bank balance and taught me to really appreciate what is in my wardrobe, those lessons and benefits have fallen by the wayside since the ban ended at the beginning of the year. Both the boyf and my mother have suggested that I do it again but a whole six months feels like such a long time now. However with a holiday on the horizon and birthdays and my Paris trip and then Christmas, I need to get my finances in order and had already decided to take a month off shopping – next month, to be precise – when I came across this challenge:

Kendi of Kendi Everyday challenged herself and others earlier this year to wear and remix 30 items from their wardrobe for 30 days.

So I thought, why not? I could do that too. Couldn’t I?

So, starting tomorrow, this is what I will be doing. I have chosen my 30 items from my wardrobe – and washed and ironed them all – and every day for the next 30 days I will post my “remixed” outfit here, featuring the 30 carefully chosen items.

Now, later this month I am off on holiday for 10 days, so I have had to factor this into my decision making a little which means that a fair few of my 30 items are beach related. We’ll just have to see how that works out for the 20 or so days that I’m not on holiday and that, instead, I am in rainy Britain.

There is another reason for my deciding to set myself this challenge: I have recently fallen out of love with everything in my wardrobe. Every morning as I lie in bed trying to convince myself to get up, I do a little mental tour of my wardrobe and instantly wish I didn't have to get up because, despite a wardrobe packed with clothes and drawers overflowing with more clothes, I have nothing to wear. I’m hoping that this challenge will remind me of all of the lovely clothes I have and give me some ideas for those mornings when I feel less than enthusiastic about the contents of my wardrobe.

To get me going I’ve even planned a few “fall back” outfits in case I get stuck for ideas at any point but I won't reveal anything here!

If you’re after a little more of an extreme challenge, you could try the Six Items Or Less Challenge!

If you do decide to take up either of these challenges, why not tell us all about it? Leave a comment here or send me an email and I might even feature you.

I’d just like to add that I found out about the challenge from Modly Chic – Modly Chic is a fashion blog for the average girl who cares about looking good without spending a lot of money and without looking cheap. Sounds good? Then go check this wonderful and pretty blog out.
