A Day in the Life #3

Last Thursday (24 March) the day of the exhibition for Samsung's The Now Project arrived. The culmination of a month of taking photographs of a perceived now. The day also happened to coincide with the day my (super stylish) sis wanted us to go to The Ideal Home Show at Earls Court. So I made a day of it. Seeing as it was the day when the photographs I had taken on my Samsung Wave II would be exhibited, I thought it only fitting that I should leave the DSLR at home and document the day on my mobile. Plus, it's always nice to have a day out without a clunky camera in tow - a bit unusual, too, for a blogger!

So here is my day in photos:

8.20am - the sun is already out when I arrive at the railway station:

9.20am - enjoy a coffee on the train, after painting my nails with Models Own in Lilac Dream:

10.20am - arrive at Earls Court:

11.20am - enjoy a quick pint (!!):

12.20pm - pick up some ideas for the interior of my (dream) home:

1.20pm - Emily of myfashionlife.com talks us through this season's hottest trends, including '70s style and colour blocking, on the Ideal Woman catwalk:

4.00pm - stylish sis and I re-charge our batteries with a cupcake in the sun outside the tube station (before panic ensues as I realise I have lost my Oyster card - oops!):

6.20pm - the sun sets beautifully over the Thames:

As I stroll across Tower Bridge, towards the Design Museum:

7.20pm - everyone's photos are displayed on a series of screens in a constantly changing montage:

This is the first bloggers' event I've been able to get to - so a huge thank you to Nicole from RED for making it possible and being so sweet and lovely when I met her.

I also met some of the bloggers behind some of the blogs I read (nearly) every day. Jill of Street Style London was so lovely and welcoming and introduced me to Kate of I am not a celebrity.

8. 20pm - I found myself on the terrace of the Design Museum with Lexxi of My Labyrinth Blog and Charlie of A la mode (who Jill was also kind enough to introduce me to):

And, then, before I knew it, it was time to make my way home again...

Super Stylish Sister: #3 AND London Day Out

Here's the third week's outfit photo of Super Stylish Sis:

This photo was taken last weekend when I was home with her and the weather was just beginning to feel a little Spring-like.

Super Stylish Sis is wearing: Marks and Spencer coat and jumper, Gap dress from Mary Portas' Living and Giving Shop, Liberty for Comic Relief scarf and EMU boots.

Super Stylish Sis and I spent a super stylish day together on Thursday in London:

Here's a little teaser - as I promise to write a bigger post on our day. We spent the day at The Ideal Home Show which no doubt Super Stylish Sis will be chatting all about over at her blog Home Sweet Homemade Home.

And then in the evening, I headed off to The Design Museum on the South Bank of the Thames, to the exhibition of the winning shots in Samsung's Now Project:

What are you up to this weekend? While the boyf goes off for band practice, I have been "abandoned" on Starbucks with a Skinny Vanilla Latte and muffin. Can't complain.

Super Stylish Sister: #2

Another week and another outfit from Super Stylish Sis: isn't this cardigan ever so cute?

Super Stylish Sister is wearing: Dorothy Perkins cardigan, Debenhams scarf and EMU boots.

Today I am actually spending the day with the Super Stylish one!! We are planning a "super girly day of fun", starting with brunch, followed by a lot of little shopping and ending with a chick flick and a large glass of vino. What do you have planned for your Saturday?

Remember to visit Super Stylish Sister's blog: Home Sweet Homemade Home.

Super Stylish Sister: #1

My Super Stylish Sister has agreed to be featured here each week for next few months:

Super Stylish Sis has, in fact, recently started her very own blog - Home Sweet Homemade Home - which is rather fabulous, so please go check it out:

Super Stylish Sister is wearing: River Island hat, Marks and Spencer coat, Next faux fur muff (a gift from her very generous big sis!! Moi, in case you wondered!!) and EMU boots.

I'm not sure there is any more stylish manner in which to keep your hands warm than with a faux fur muff?!

Home Sweet Homemade Home

A quick shout out to my super stylish (little) sis who has started a blog of her very own: Home Sweet Homemade Home.

The blog is all about home interiors and the like. Super stylish sis is a little whizz on the sewing machine and has been known to run up a gorgeous cushion cover or two for yours truly. She will also be offering handy hints on having a gorgeous living space without spending a fortune.

One of her recent (and first) posts offers tips on the key to successful flea market shopping.

Go check out the blog (please!) and leave a comment to tell her what you think (be nice now, please!!).

Ladies Who Lunch

Last weekend, Super Stylish Sis and I were ladies who lunch. Super Stylish Sis was looking - as ever - super stylish!!

She was wearing: H&M hat, Marks and Spencer dress and Marks and Spencer cardigan. You can see what I was wearing here.

We went to our favourite café - the Boston Tea Party. The menu is sooo extensive and there is far too much to list here but everything is - or sounds - delicious. I chose Lamb Tagine with couscous:

Super Stylish Sis chose a Bacon and Brie salad - which looked divine:

Where do you go when you want lunch?

Super Stylish Sis Is Looking Super Stylish

Super Stylish Sis took me for brunch on Saturday and, of course, turned up looking super stylish:

This is stylish sis's fox tail that mum and I brought back from Paris for her (from H&M):

Chanel: not so vague now eh?

Chanel's new autumn make-up range launched today and I was first in line to get my hands on their new limited edition nail polishes. I had originally planned to just buy the Jade Rose and get the Paradoxal for stylish sis but after seeing the latter on the girl at the Chanel counter, I just had to get it too.

Watch out for both of these shades appearing in a Mani of the Week post soon.

The End?

On Friday, I graduated from my masters' course at Cardiff University with an MSc Econ in European Governance and Public Policy. It was the culmination of two and a half years of hard work and a very special day that I shared with my family.

It all went well - apart from the moment I almost lost my cap before the ceremony. As we were walking to St David's Hall in Cardiff city centre I had put my cap on and pinned it, despite my mother telling me that it was too windy! Well, she was unfortunately proved right as we stood at the traffic lights and a gust of wind caught the back of the cap and took it flying off into the road and into the path of the oncoming traffic. My mother ran to retrieve it as a car slammed on its brakes. Fortunately, both mother and cap were fine. Why is it that mothers always right?

These last couple of photos are of my stylish sis - don't you love her dress - and me, playing catch with my cap. Unintentionally. I thought it might be fun to throw it in the air but the wind - mentioned above (!) - carried it a little further than expected!

Now that I have graduated, I have to decide what to do with my life. Whether I continue as a student and pursue a PhD or whether I settle down and work? Neither sounds very tempting right now. Maybe I don't have to decide. Just yet.

I am wearing: my graduation gown and cap, H&M skirt, New Look shirt, New Look shoes and H&M ring. I had absolutely no idea what to wear, so I went with the boring "waitress" look.

Stylish Sister's Fabulous Hat!

After all of the chat about headgear [Fascinating?] and talk of my cousin's wedding last Saturday [What was I wearing yesterday?] I just had to show you my very Stylish Sister's hat:

Isn't it fabulous?

My Super Stylish Sister!

Here is my Super Stylish Sister in the mustard tights I sent to her! I think every girl should own a pair!

Her jumper dress is from New Look, the tights from Topshop and (I think!) the boots are too.

Back to studying for me. Love, SG

My Stylish Sister!

My sister arrived at lunch with my parents today in this rather fetching outfit and I thought it was only fair to share her look with you!

She's wearing; a handband and bangles by DP, cardie by Zara, top from a store in Spain, a scarf bought by mum and me at a market in Paris, a necklace from GFW, leggings and boots from M&S.
