NYFW #10: Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2011
It might be Day 2 of London Fashion Week already but, here at Sugar and Spice, it is the last day of our look at Fashion Week across the pond:
Jason Wu's collection is wonderfully eclectic; from billowing trousers, pussy bows and corsages to frills and layers.
It would be rather fabulous don't you think to turn up to work in the bumble bee yellow and black striped jumper and royal blue turban?

NYFW: The Best Of The Rest #2
This is the second of two of The Best Of The Rest posts from NYFW:
Donna Karan's Spring/Summer 2011 collection continues the emerging trend of NYFW SS2011 of nudes and neutrals.
I never thought I'd like a collection by Tommy Hilfiger as much as I do this one. Really like the two dresses.
Emily over at Fashion Foie Gras puts is far more eloquently than I ever could with regards to the beautiful collection shown at Ralph Lauren, so go see her post for yourself.

NYFW #9: MARCHESA Spring/Summer 2011
The dresses in this collection are pretty awesome. The structures of those in the second set are innovative and intricate.
The lace jumpsuit in the middle really stood out for me. It's completely different to the other pieces in the collection and therefore, unexpected. But fits perfectly. It is my favourite piece of all.

NYFW #8: Preen Spring/Summer 2011
Hello London. Yes, today is the first day of London Fashion Week. I'll be picking out my favourites from the next five days here too. For now,
A neutral and monochrome palette from Preen.
What do you think of the collection? And of this season's palette in general?

NYFW: The Best Of The Rest #1
This is the first of two posts, showcasing The Best Of The Rest of the shows at NYFW that haven't already been posted here this week:
It was all about Little House on the Prairie at Anna Sui: fringing, sheer and cowboy boots.
It was chic and clean lines at Carolina Herrera. And fabulous, wide brimmed hats.
Lovely scarves at DKNY. Loving the middle dress.

NYFW #7: Diane von Furstenberg Spring/Summer 2011
More red lipstick at DvF. Amazing!
The blue is such a fantastic and vibrant shade - perfect for spring and summer. I also fell completely for the last dress.

NYFW #6: Cynthia Rowley Spring/Summer 2011
Today is the last day of New York Fashion Week, before London Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow! I still have a few more collections that I want to share, so please bare with me.
What I loved most about the catwalk photos from Cynthia Rowley's collection was: the pillarbox red lipstick which stood out immediately on all of the models. Fabulous, darling! The pastels really help to make it pop. I need to get myself off to my nearest make-up counter for some red lippy!!
I also loved how cool Cynthia Rowley herself looked, as she came on to the catwalk at the end of the show:
Love the dress, love the boots, love the hair: love love LOVE.

NYFW #5: BCBG Max Azria Spring/Summer 2011
Another show and another relaxed and neutral palette. I love the gorgeously grown-up offerings of BCBG Max Azria.
I am already in love with this emerging trend for Spring/Summer 2011.
What do you think of the new season's colour palette?

NYFW #4: Suno Spring/Summer 2011
Whilst a fairly muted palette was still in evidence at Suno for Spring/Summer, the designer used them to create some fabulous print designs. I love the zebra print midi. And the sandals are amazing - I want the ones in the photo, top right and bottom left! Please!!

NYFW #3: Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2011
Another neutral palette. Loose, floaty and chic: what more could a girl ask for next summer?

NYFW #2: Z Spoke by Zac Posen Spring/Summer 2011
Sun dresses galore at Z Spoke by Zac Posen - and some rather fabulous sunnies!! These are not helping my post holiday blues... I just want to be back beside the seaside!
Am a huge fan of print tees with tailored pieces - adds a bit of rebellion to items that can sometimes be a little dull.
What do you think of the collection? (Remember to check out yesterday's post and to check back for all of the others, throughout this week)

NYFW #1: Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2011
This is the first of my posts featuring my picks from New York Fashion Week, there are more to come. I have chosen - simply - those pieces from the catwalk that I liked. I hope you like them too.
Sharp denim tailoring, contrasting against crisp whites gave a twist to summer work wear.

Maxi dresses look set to continue as a trend, with formal and print maxis giving a touch of elegance.
Personally love the blue print maxi on the left, how glamorous is that? For a balmy summer's evening... **day dreams**
What do you think of the collection? (I had intended to only include a max of six outfits from each collection but loved so many more from this show)

Let's get this par-tay started!!!
The guests are arriving, the sun is shining (sort of!) and there is Pimms for everyone.
First through the door was Hannah of Mademoiselle:
Florrie has put on a summery H&M frock with pastel Topshop tights, a cheerful butterfly necklace from Accessorize and Mulberry shoes for a splash of colour.
She tells me that she is better with cakes than drinks and as you can never have enough of those she's brought along fairy cakes, cookies and flapjacks with strawberry milkshakes.
And then my Stylish Sis turned up!

First through the door was Hannah of Mademoiselle:
Hannah is wearing: dress by Topshop, blouse (underneath) by Millou, headband by J.Crew, belt by H&M and bag by Michael Kors.
Hannah brought lemon ginger tea and a tiara for me!! Saying, Every girl needs a tiara, and your first blogiversary is the perfect time to get one. How lovely is that?!
Rag & Bone Victoria Wedge Sandal, 565 GBP
Erika brought me a copy of Taschen's New York - so that I can dream of NYC and being back there - and a Pineapple Cooler to quench our thirsts!
And then Gemma from Retro Chick arrived with a nice bottle of champagne in hand, to toast Sugar & Spice's birthday:
Gemma is wearing: Mulberry Dress from a Charity Shop! Cherry Fascinator by Abilu Creations, Belt, Shoes and pearl earrings all from eBay and Pearl String Necklace from an Antique Market.
As I was opening the bottle of champagne and pouring us all a virtual glass there was another knock at the door and Florrie of Intrinsically Florrie was standing there looking very pretty:
She tells me that she is better with cakes than drinks and as you can never have enough of those she's brought along fairy cakes, cookies and flapjacks with strawberry milkshakes.
And then my Stylish Sis turned up!

My Stylish Sister is wearing: shoes from Dorothy Perkins, skirt from Topshop, top by Limited Collection at M&S, hairband was a gift, bag by Rocha.John.Rocha from Debenhams, rings from Dorothy Perkins.
And would you believe it, she's brought virtual Peppermint Tea Mojitos! Yummy!
Then Stace of Tee and Fame arrived bringing with her a lovely box of chocolates and some Turkish Apple tea - which I confess, I love - good choice!
Doesn't Stace look lovely in her Flower Bomb Dress and purple velvet headband, both from Alannah Hill, and Target black heels?
There's no need to feel left out, there's still time to join the party, just follow the instructions here.
And what about the host, I hear you ask? Ah! You'll have to check back later!
Monday Morning Pic-Me-Up
Maybe because it's Christmas, or maybe because this time last year I was getting ready for my first trip to the Big Apple, or maybe because my boss is heading off there today, or maybe because Harriet featured it in her Lazy Sunday Links... Whatever the reason, all I can think about at the moment is New York in the snow.
I visited the city in January and immediately fell in love with it. I thought a few photos of New York in the snow might cheer you all up on this grotty Monday morning.
(I took these myself with a very old compact Fujifilm digital camera)
More soon. Love SG
Paris vs New York: Battle of the TV ads
I have been in love with the Keira Knightley TV ad for Coco Mademoiselle ever since I first saw it. It has some beautiful shots of Paris at night. In addition, the red dress that Keira Knightley wears is incredible. It is the ultimate in glamour and certainly reflects the Chanel 'look'. Love it.
More soon. Love, SG
