Carine Roitfeld's guide to looking good at any age

To celebrate Paris Fashion Week, That's Not My Age looks to the 55-year-old French Vogue editor for tips on ageless style:

1. Show off your best bits
'When you are a woman you have to know what you have good, non? And you have to take advantage. I have two good things. Good legs and good eyes.'

2. Precious moments
'I say jewellery is better before 25 and after 60, and now 60 is not far off, I am allowed to wear again.'

3. Mix it up
'I do not like total look. I do not like conformist. I love white shoes in winter, white shoes with black tights, a black bra under a transparent top. I always take the opposite.'

What is your top style tip Leia of HiFashion?

Well my dears, this week I asked Leia of HiFashion, what is your top style tip? And her answer is here for you all:

"My top style tip: don't buy too many basics. Magazines, websites, and a whole host of other media always tell you to stock up on basics, but you know what? A wardrobe full of basics = quite a boring style! Of course, you need a few key pieces that can work with multiple outfits, but if your closet is filled with clothes that make you feel happy and stylish, you'll never have a dull outfit day again."

What is your top style tip PinkBow?

Well, this week, PinkBow shares her top style tip with you lucky blog readers:

"Be sure to mix in vintage pieces (old news I know) as it gives a truly individual look and encourages creativity."

What is your top style tip Confessions of a Fashion Editor?

This week I asked Amy of Confessions of a Fashion Editor to share her top style tip with us:

"My biggest style tip would be not to let anyone tell you what to wear... except your best friend, because they always know best!"

What is your top style tip Politcal Style?

This week I asked Laura of Politcal Style for her top style tip:

"I always make sure I wear some sort of jewellery - whether it is a nice pair of earrings, my signet ring or a funky necklace. Jewellery is highly personal, and can brighten even the dullest of days!

Invest in fabulous shoes- flats, wedges, or stilettos and make sure you take care of them, by stuffing them with tissue paper or shoe trees to maintain their shape. Create a capsule wardrobe, filled with tailored trousers, chic skirts and crisp white shirts. These are the base for a simple yet amazing outfit, which can be made into its own by accessories of your choice.

And finally, an age old tip! Take your make-up off every night and make sure you cleanse tone and moisturise! Your skin will thank you for it!"

What is your top style tip Miss Fashion Whore?

This week I asked Alice of Miss Fashion Whore and Shop Pulse to share her top style tip with you lovely readers:

"My top style tip is to invest in killer accessories and then mix them up with inexpensive basics. I love Mulberry for bags which transcend every season. I also love ebay for snapping up sold-out and vintage items for dirt cheap prices."

What is your top style tip Glamorous Grad Student?

This week I asked The Glamorous Grad Student what her top style tip is. Here is her answer:

"My style tip would be this: Style comes from knowing yourself. Know what you are and work with it. Know who you are and show it. Be authentic."

What is your top style tip Cafe Fashionista?

This week it is the turn of the fabulous Erika of Cafe Fashionista (I don't like to have favourites but if I did, Erika's blog would be it!) to share her top style tip:

"Comfort. When you're not comfortable it shows; and no one looks stylish if they're uncomfortable in what they're wearing."

What is your top style tip Polka Dot Stripe?

The lovely Rachel of Polka Dot Stripes is sharing her top style tip exclusively with you all today:

"Whenever you're feeling down wear heels, even if you're just staying in the house. It will make you smile I know it."

What is your top style tip HiFashion?

Sherin of HiFashion shares her top style tip with you lucky things right here:

"This is going to sound very cliched, but my tip is to always be comfortable in what you wear. There's no point wearing the latest trends if you don't feel right in them, and it's always clear when someone isn't comfortable in their clothes. If you wear something that you feel good in, you'll look so much more confident, and so much better."

What is your top style tip Harriet?

This week I asked Harriet of where is Harriet? to share her top style tip with you all:

"My style tip is always dress your best, whatever the occasion! I am definitely not a fan of 'dressing down' and don't have a problem with being overstressed when everyone else is in jeans. It makes me feel better about myself, and more confident, and although initially people are suprised, when they get used to it a lot of my friends, colleagues and school mates have told me that they wish they dressed up more often. Try it - you never know what might happen!"

What is your top style tip Charlotte Taylor?

If you are a regular reader of this blog you will know that I have been asking some of my favourite bloggers who their style icon is (you can find the posts here). They have also agreed to share their top style tips.

Today womenswear designer Charlotte Taylor shares her top style tip with you:

"Be yourself and experiment when you're young enough to get away with looking ridiculous!"

Couldn't agree more!
