Beauty Review: No7 Pampering Dry Oil Body Spray

I don't often write beauty reviews on this blog (except for the regular Mani of the Week series) but when I do it is because I have found a product that I just have to tell you about and this is one such product.


I love Baby Oil and the way it moisturises my skin in a way that no other moisturiser I have found does. But I don't like the way it leaves my skin greasy for hours after and gets all over my clothes if I have to get dressed quickly after applying - as is often the case in the morning. I often leave myself with barely enough time to throw some lotion on, dress and run out of the door, let alone wait for any lotion or oil to sink in.

Boots No7 Pampering Dry Oil Body Spray is the perfect solution. It comes as a spray so you don't end up with the oil all over the bottle. It is also easy to apply just the right amount of oil. It dries ultra fast! The smell is subtle and leaves no lasting smell. I find this important as I wear perfume and don't like all of my lotions and potions scents conflicting with each other!

So far this week, I have already noticed that the dry patch of skin on my upper arm is smoother and my legs - which are always dry -  are a little less dry already.

Mani of the Week: Boots No7 Betty Blues

This week's nail colour comes courtesy of Boots No7 Stay Perfect Nail Polish in Betty Blues.

The colour is a rich navy blue with a high shine. Two coats make it opaque and will make it last longer too.

Mani of the Week: Boots No7 Siren

I have been coveting the Chanel nail polish in Dragon that Pink Bow wears and so when in Paris in October I thought it would make the perfect souvenir but alas, they were all sold out:

On my return I decided to treat myself to a nail colour from Boots No7 with my £5 voucher and so set upon this colour - Siren - which is very nearly the same shade of red.

What do you think? Can I pass it off as Chanel?

A/W Beauty Trends

Forget the pastel, neon and rainbow hues in homage to the 1970s discos from spring/summer 2010, we’ve moved on to a more sophisticated palette in beauty this autumn/winter. There are several looks which define this autumn/winter from the dark and sultry vamp to the fresh faced neutral look, and the screen siren red lipstick to the dazzling golden girl.

Vamp

The vamp look as seen on the catwalks at Maxmara and Blumarine is a great look for the party season. Keep things light and fresh by avoiding heavy mascara and eyeliner.

Last A/W saw the rise of purple when creating the smoky eye, this year it is all about different shades of grey blended together.

Get the vamp look: MAC smoky eye shadow in carbon, Rituals dark grey eye shadow in Onyx Eyes, Topshop kohl eyeliner in metallic grey, Maybelline Volume Express mascara.

Golden Girl

The golden girl look has been a catwalk favourite with heavyweights such as Chloë and Kenzo. With this look you need to channel the sun kissed 70s look, think Charlie’s Angels.

It is a glossy and light look where the aim is to exude health. Start with an illuminating primer and then use a light layer of bronzer, with a similar hue on the eyes and lip.

Get the golden girl look: Rituals cheek and eye glow, MAC eye shadow in Crest the Wave, Topshop skin glow, No7 brow pencil.

Screen Siren

The screen siren signature red lipstick is big this season. This look was showcased at many shows for A/W 11 including Moschino, Karl Lagerfeld, Dior and Roksanda Ilincic to name but a few.

All you need to create this look is a classic slick of red lipstick, top with lip gloss for intensity, and lashings of mascara. Keep eyes soft and skin radiant to maximise the effect.

Neutral

Spring’s pink cheeks have faded into A/W’s neutral tones this autumn/winter as seen at Alberta Ferretti, Victor & Rolf and Halston.

The key to this look is keeping everything looking effortless and radiant. Start with a light foundation or tinted moisturiser on prepped skin, bright eyes with softly blended hues and a glow in the cheeks. Define eyes and brows lightly.

Get the neutral look: Cowshed exfoliator, Rituals foundation, Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, MAC brow set, Pixi eye palette.

Beauty review: Boots No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara

If there is one bit of make-up I feel naked without, it is mascara. Whilst I love to go bare faced, particularly on holiday or at the weekends, I rarely go without a quick coat of mascara. And for me, Boots' No 7 mascaras always do the job. I think that over the years I have probably tried them all. 

You might remember that I raved about their Lash 360 in this post, which is still my favourite for day-time mascara. But I have a new favourite for evening make-up lashes: Boots' No 7 Exceptional Definition Mascara. It has three different types of bristles on the brush that all do different jobs and make eyes and eyelashes so defined.

Beauty review: inside my make-up bag

Before I jetted off to Sardinia, I decided to treat myself some new holiday make-up. My usual go-to when I need new make-up is MAC but after trying Topshop's make-up line when it launched earlier in the year I headed to my high street fav:

Mani of the week: No7 Beautifully Black

I love dark coloured nail polishes but black has always seemed a little too black for me. This Boots' No7 Beautifully Black polish is perfect. The sparkles give it a little glamour.


Needs to two coats and can be a little gloopy but with a little care looks great.


This month, Boots has another £5 No7 voucher offer which would make this polish less than £2. Got to be a bargain, no?

Mani of the week: No 7 Pillar Box

I love this colour. It is the most true red I have found. The best part? It only needs one coat to fulfil its colour potential which saves time. Two coats do help it to last longer, of course. 

My only problem with painting my nails red is that it does rather restrict my outfit choices as I can't really wear anything with pink in it.
